The first time I witnessed Deep Coaching in practice, I was hooked. Love at first sight.
It was during an introductory Deep Coaching course provided by the Deep Coaching Institute, led by the amazing Terri Lieberman.
In a 15-minute coaching demo, her presence and simple questions led a student to profound insights into why she minimized herself when with her workplace colleagues, and what she needed to do to show up with more confidence and authenticity.
Terri never directed or advised, she just opened a fountain of inner wisdom in her students. This is the essence of Deep Coaching. It's a whole body experience - mind, body and heart all pumping on high. All cylinders at maximum.
As I witnessed this process, I thought to myself: this is world-changing. This is what it looks like to be transformed. No drugs, no fancy systems, no equipment. Just you and your awareness in collaboration with presence.
A skilled Deep Coach brings a safe 'container' to help guide you become aware of what's going on "under the hood" of personality. We are looking to find treasure, and to lay bare the traps that lay in your way to that ultimate prize.
Deep Coaching integrates the Enneagram into sessions so we can go deeper and find your treasure more efficiently. The Enneagram is like bringing a map to the treasure hunt - it gives us direction, clues, and revelations around what we are facing and where to turn when the going gets tough.
The map is for the inner worlds we inhabit. Deep Coaching helps us get out of our typical automatic thinking and into our hearts and bodies, which is where we retain so much of our programmed patterns, fears, and blockages. It's also where we find our freedom, strength, and love.
With gentle but direct inquiry, Deep Coaches will invite you to slow down, breathe, and turn attention to internal space, to become aware of what is coming up in the body (sensations, feelings, emotions, constrictions, tensions, energies, etc.) and to stay with what is coming up. This somatic practice is typically when the most profound breakthroughs are experienced.
Deep Coaching is all about helping you as a whole person. It tackles things like work stuff, relationship struggles, creative ruts, feeling stuck, parenting woes, and marital issues. The goal is to improve every part of your life, so you can feel better overall and get to know yourself better.
After all - this world needs you. The real you. Let's find that treasure!
